Eugene (Gene) R. Schoen, 76, Village of Hobart, died Friday, February 29, 2008. He was born June 4, 1931, in Fond Du Lac, WI. to the late Raymond and Evelyn (Lutz) Schoen. He graduated from East High School in 1949. He married Mary Jansen at St. Mary's of the Angels Church in 1949 and preceded him in death in 1952. Later he married Janet Valliant in 1955, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Green Bay, and she preceded him in death in 1994. Gene was employed by Giddings and Lewis in Kaukauna as an electrical technician for over thirty years before retiring. He belonged to the WASHINGTON LODGE #21, Free and accepted Masons and was a member of the Moose Lodge. During his retirement, he spent endless hours building his model airplanes and flying them with the Jubin brothers and his brother Jerry. The restoration of classic automobiles was his life long hobby. Almost every noon, for the last 17 years he spent his time with the Golden Basket lunch bunch, a close group of friends. is four children, Steve (MaryAnn) Schoen, Suamico; Mike (Sherrie) Schoen, Suamico; Jeanie Schoen, Merrill; and Cheri (Tom) Corcoran, De Pere; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Lindsay, Alyssa, Devin, Heather, Shaelyn and Lauren; one great-granddaughter, Adalyn; one brother, Jerry (Donna) Schoen, Kaukauna; four sisters-in-law, Jackie (Wayne) Bero, Sobieski; Shirley (Jack) Gehm, De Pere; Barb (Fritz) Hrubesky; Green Bay, Judy (Bill) Mc Laughlin, Tarpon Springs, FL; nieces and nephews; and his best canine friend, Baily WUFF. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary and his second wife, Janet. Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, at Lyndahl Funeral Home where the funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will be at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
