William E. Otto, 80, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, in Ft. Myers, Florida, with family at his side. Originally from Lodi, Wisconsin, he also lived in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Mr. Otto taught English to soldiers while he served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Returning stateside, he taught for seven years in Fond du Lac, prior to moving to Green Bay in 1960, where he headed the East High School English Department and advised both the yearbook and school newspaper staffs. He retired from the Green Bay School District after a career of educating and positively influencing students that spanned 47 years. His hard work ethic instilled from a farm upbringing, his desire to always be learning and eager willingness to share what he knew with others, allows students, friends and family to fondly remember him as nurturing and always the gentleman. His nurturing and educational ways carried over to his love of flower gardening, bringing order and beauty to the back yards of his Wisconsin summer home and his Florida winter haven. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 56 years, Margaret; his daughters, Karen (Paul Benam) and Melanie (Dave Beauchaine), both of Green Bay; and Sonja (Haluk Ozturk) of Augusta, Georgia; and sons, William (Jane) of Pewaukee, Wisconsin and Keith of Evans City, Pennsylvania. Grandpa will be missed by his 11 grandchildren; Megan and David Benam; Amanda, Margaret and Matthew Otto; Nicole and Andrea Beauchaine; Suzanne, Sarah and Selma Ozturk; and Brett Hunter Otto; one brother, Robert Otto, Topeka, Kansas; one sister-in-law: Gladys Otto, Marshall, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Stanley, Marlin MackĀ, Donald, Gerald and Richard. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Wednesday, April 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Lyndahl Funeral Home. A religious service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, April 24, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 South Ridge Road, Green Bay, following church visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
