Eugene Gene Murphy, 89, Ashwaubenon, died Friday morning, May 9, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born April 9, 1919 in Oconto Falls to the late William and Gertrude Murphy. Gene served his country during World War II from 1942 to 1945. On September 25, 1954, he married Yvonne Murphy at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. Eugene was employed by Fort Howard Paper Co., retiring in 1982. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed going up north. He was a devoted Packers' fan and attended the Ice Bowl. Gene will be sadly missed by his loving family. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; one daughter and son-in-law, LeAnn and David Hohne, Sobieski; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Nancy Murphy, Howard; two granddaughters, the joy of his life, Amanda and Megan Hohne; one brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Gloria Murphy, Oconto Falls; one brother-in-law, Tim Murphy, Dolan Springs, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcella Lutz and Mildred Bero. place at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., Green Bay, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
