Joseph Tassone

Joseph A. Tassone, 86, Green Bay, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at his home. He was born April 19, 1922, to the late Dominic and Roseann (Tasson) Tassone in Ishpeming, Michigan. After Rose's passing, he was raised by his stepmother, Evelyn. Joseph served his country as a Corporal in the South Pacific during World War II. As a recognized rifle marksman, he saw action at Apamama and the Gilbert, Marshall and Solomon Islands. He was a proud lifelong Marine. He loved sports, playing semi-pro football for the Ishpeming Bombers and with the Marines in San Diego. He was a member of the Horse Marines. On May 29, 1948, he married Carol Pascoe in Ishpeming, Michigan. Joseph enjoyed ski jumping at Suicide Hill. Joseph worked in the Humboldt Mine near Champion, Michigan and retired from Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company after 40 years of employment. He was an active supporter of the Ishpeming Blue Notes Drum and Bugle Corps. Joseph and Carol moved to Green Bay 16 years ago to be closer to their grandchildren and the Green Bay Packers. J. Hengler, who has helped so much over the past months; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Plude; one son, Joseph Tassone; and two sisters, Tisha Hillman and Catherine Rogers. A gathering of family and friends will be held after 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 4, at Lyndahl Funeral Home where a Service of Remembrance will take place at 5:00 P.M.
