Betty Schauer, 78, Green Bay, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 25, 1931, in Green Bay to the late Walter and Emma (Tank) Rehbein. She was a 1949 graduate of Green Bay East High School. On June 12, 1954, she married Killian Schauer in Green Bay; he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2006. Betty had been an employee and volunteer of the Brown County Republican Party and later served as Director of Brown County Commission on Aging and as a case worker for Congressman Toby Roth. Following employment with Employers Health (now Humana), Betty served on the state Medical Insurance Mediation Board. In addition to a lifetime of political involvement, Betty was a loving mother, attending Curt's baseball games for 20 years and musical concerts of Kathy and her grandsons. Her grandsons were a significant part of her life. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and needlework. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church and a member of Charles A. n Jose, CA; one daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen and James Siegrist, Green Bay; two grandsons: Kyle (fiancé, Ashley Vial) and Gregory Siegrist; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Rehbein, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and two nephews. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Lange officiating. Entombment will take place at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Betty's family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of Bishop's Court and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion that they provided.
