Jack Smith

Jack B. Smith, 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at his home with his loving wife and children by his side. He was born May 9, 1928 in Oshkosh, WI to the late Bernard and Elsie (Wulk) Smith. Jack grew up in Marion, Wisconsin and later served his country in the United States Army. On September 2, 1950, he married the former Joyce Peterson in Marion, Wisconsin. Jack had been employed as a carpenter building homes and pools with Kubiak Builders. He then became an estimator with Hougard Construction and retired in 1992. Jack enjoyed woodworking and building things for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Packer fan and attended the Ice Bowl. Jack was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church. In his younger years he enjoyed basketball, ice skating and playing tennis and was a former grade school basketball coach. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Elvy) Smith; brothers-in-law, Armand Reinke, William Knitt and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph (Erin) Peterson. Friends may call from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:30 am on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Road, with Reverend Earl Vorpagel III officiating. A memorial fund to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society has been established. A special thank you to Green Bay Oncology, especially Dr. Winkler and the 9th Floor Nurses at St. Vincent Hospital for the loving care they gave Jack.
