Donald H. Hansen, Sr., 91, Oneida, was called home Friday, April 22, 2011 at a local nursing home. He was born April 11, 1920, to the late James and Mattie (Dahnke) Hansen in Ashwaubenon. On November 8, 1941, he married LaVerne Everard at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oneida. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary with an overflowing house of family. Donald farmed in the Town of Hobart for 56 years, retiring in 1988. Donald and LaVerne raised 14 children on a small dairy farm. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ashwaubenon his entire life. Up until the last few months, he attended every Sunday at 8:00 am. He could be found in the exact same chair week after week. He also took great pride in serving as a Hobart volunteer fireman for 25 years. Some of his best friends were developed there and he is with many of them today in heaven. He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; nine sons and their spouses, Jim and Sandy, Green Bay; Norbert and Mary Lee, Denmark; Don and Joan, Oneida; Tony and Bonnie, Pittsfiel...[more]
