Gordon L. "Gordy" Olson

Gordon L. "Gordy" Olson, 74, Suamico, was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. He was born on April 8, 1937 in Escanaba, MI to the late Werner and Margaret Olson. On May 19, 1956, Gordy married the former Eileen Malchow in Green Bay. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 11 years. He worked as a carpenter for Green Bay Homebuilders and later Selmer Construction, and he remained a member of Carpenters Local #1146. Survivors include his wife of 54 years -- his one and only sweetheart -- Eileen; and three children born of their hearts: Jan (Lynn) Malchow and their children: Chad, Dylan, and Katie; Bert (Debbie) Malchow; and Julie (Dave) Zeman; four brothers: Jerry, Lloyd, Harvey and Glen; three sisters: Vivian, Joyce and Janet; brother-in-law: Vernon Malchow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his furry feline friends, Dixie and Angel. mily and friends will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where a time of sharing memories will take place at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, where a service celebrating Gordy's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Suamico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Gordy's wishes were that memorial gifts be used to continue his work with the restoration and preservation of nature and wildlife.
