nce in Menominee, MI. She happened to be in town visiting family for the summer. They started dating and moved to Detroit, MI seeking work. They were married on January 9, 1942 in Detroit. George and Margaret then had two children; Mary Mitzi, and Philip. George was in Detroit working on wartime aircraft until he was drafted to the United States Army at age 26. After serving in WWII, George reunited with his family who had relocated to Minneapolis, MN to be closer to Margarets family and he worked for Sears. They then had their last child James. The family eventually moved to Green Bay and George spent time as a traveling salesman selling the first staple guns for Margarets brother replacing hammers and tacks in the construction industry. He and Margaret decided to entrepreneur and open the first Perkins family style restaurant north of Milwaukee called The R Family Restaurant in downtown Green Bay. George enjoyed hunting at The Camp in Florence County, fishing, golfing, a good meal, travel and his family. He volunteered at St. Marys and Bellin Hospitals in the cardiac department for years comforting pre and post-surgical patients. George had a sarcastic sense of humor unique to himself and those around him. Each family member and friend closest to him had a nickname. Those who knew him, know the jokes, the sayings and the rants. George always put a smile on peoples faces and made them laugh until the end of his life. George was preceded in death by wife Margaret Rotter, six months ago; brother, Lawrence Rotter; brother-in-law, John Bauman; his parents and step- mother. He is survived by his children, Mary (Mitzi) Bogda, Philip (Lyn) Rotter, James (June) Rotter; brother, Clayton Bud Rotter; two sisters, Bernice Bauman and Phyllis Young; sister-in-law, Norma Rotter; ten grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; one great- great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
