William R Waukau, of Zoar, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his home. He was 67 years old. He was born on June 30, 1944 in Keshena, a son of William and Gertrude (Kohel) Waukau.
He served in the United States Army from September 1961 to September 1964.
He worked for the Menominee County Sheriffs Department as a deputy and later held the position of Sheriff. He was an EMT for the Menominee County Ambulance Service. He owned Waukau Tree Service. He later worked as a Security Guard for the Lac du Flambeau and Potawatomi Tribes.
Survivors include five daughters Tracy Waukau, Shawano, Christine Waukau, San Antonio, Texas, Victoria (Timothy) Connor, Cass Lake, Minn, Annette (Todd) Graske, Milwaukee, Betina, Germany; three sons Jeremy Nunway, Shawano, Darren Zhuckkhosee, Keshena, Cody Waukau, Milwaukee; seven brothers Charles (Sherry) Kohel, Alabama, Robert Waukau, Keshena, Larry Waukau, Neopit, Myron (Doris) Pywasit, Zoar, Daryl (Kimberly) Waukau, New Lisbon, Leon Waukau, Neopit, Antonio (Vanessa) Waukau, Neopit; five sisters Mary Jane Pamaska, Zoar, Lolita Waukau, Keshena, Kathyrn (Ismael) Camacho, Chicago, Denise Waukau, Kansas, Jackie Waukau, Shawano; many grandchildren ...[more]

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Waukau, Rosella Ninham, three brothers, Francis, Michael and LeRoy Waukau.
Visitation will be at the Zoar Community Center beginning Wednesday evening through Friday morning.
