School in Iowa City, graduating in the spring of 1969. In the fall of 1969, Mike enrolled as a freshman at the University of Iowa and in that year met and fell in love with Kathleen Marie DeLano, the love of his life. They married on June 1, 1974, in Fonda, Iowa. They were happily married ever since. Mike graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in liberal arts from the University of Iowa in May of 1973, and was accepted into law school at Iowa. He entered law school in the fall of 1973, and graduated with distinction in May of 1976. Mike and his wife moved to Muscatine, following his graduation and he practiced law in Muscatine until he retired in April of 2010. Mike worked for another attorney in Muscatine, Terry Mealy, from 1976 until 1981. He then formed a law firm with Walter Conlon, a colleague. Mike Siering joined the firm shortly thereafter, making the firm name what it is called today: Metcalf, Conlon, and Siering. Three other attorneys joined the firm later, Greg Kreitner, Will Mathis, and Mike's oldest son, Brian Metcalf, who graduated from Iowa College of Law in May of 2008. Mike and Kathy had three children, Brian James Metcalf (August 5, 1978), Christopher Jeremy Metcalf (July 4, 1980), and David Michael Metcalf (November 24, 1982). Brian is married to Jennifer (Devore) and they have two children, Seth and Emmett. Brian practices law in the firm. Christopher is married to Becky (Bloom) and they have one daughter, Carissa. Chris is an engineer and works at Pioneer in Des Moines. David is recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a teaching degree in secondary education and is currently in graduate school at the University of Northern Iowa. Mike practiced law in Muscatine for his entire legal practice. He chose Muscatine to practice law in a small community and to be close to Iowa City. He loved being in general practice and found it to be everything he hoped for. He loved his clients and the attorneys he worked with. Mike's loves were his wife, children, and three grandchildren. He was an avid Hawks and Cubs fan. He loved the outdoors and family get-togethers, and being out in the sun. Mike will be remembered by his family as a much loved, dedicated father and husband. He had an unwavering passion for life and fiercely loved his children. His life has deeply touched not only the lives of his family, but also those from the community whom he served dutifully during his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nora.
