Donald Lawrence Thiry, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2011, now safely at home in heaven after a brief battle with cancer. Born to Alvina and Lawrence Joseph Thiry on December 14th, 1927 in Green Bay Don lived a full life most recently in Little Sturgeon., and also in Mequon, Manitowoc Wisconsin, Illinois and New York. Don returned to complete High School in 1946 at Green Bay East, after serving in the Merchant Marines in 1944, and after that served in the Navy in 1946 and 47, receiving an honorable discharge with a WWII Victory medal. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1952 with a BA in Business. He married Gloria (Peppy) Liesch May 23, 1953 and had a very successful career with Arthur Andersen starting in1952 until retirement in 1986. He was respected by many in the field and was instrumental in creating Arthur Anderson's Consulting division, later called Accenture. He was an avid football fan, Packer Stockholder for over 50 years, and solid arborist and rock thrower/beach creator in Sturgeon Bay. urgeon Bay, and served as the President (Mayor) of Little Sturgeon Property Association in the late 90's. He has been enjoying Door County for 82 of his 84 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Liesch, six children Linda (Terry) Lund, Kent (Denise) Thiry, Jill Thiry, Craig Thiry, Kay Kargul, and Don (Rochelle) Thiry; six grandchildren Scott and Keith Lund, Christina and Matthew Thiry, and Abby and Lauren Kargul; and great grandchild Kayden Lund. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Carol) Thiry, Uncle Cliff (Laverne) Miller, 14 nieces and nephews, relatives from the Miller, Liebergen, Bentley and Bogda familes as well as many good friends, colleagues and neighbors. He was preceded in death by Alvina and Lawrence Thiry, Marge and Ed Kugler, and Grandparents Marceline Dalebroux and Ernest Miller family, and sister -in -law Janette Liebergen. Lyndahl Funeral Home is arranging the Visitation which will occur at Grace Lutheran Church from 10:00 am until noon on Saturday November 5th, 321 S. Madison Street, Green Bay, WI 54305. Service to follow at noon. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund can be made to the Donald Thiry Memorial, Community Emergency Fund, at Bayview Lutheran Church, 340 W.
