Sidney Leffler

Sidney Leffler, born March 9, 1964, passed away March 1, 2010 after a courageous ten year battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife Gina, his adoring parents Coleman and Carmen, his loving siblings Hannah (Pete Rouw), Joel (Liliana), and Leonard (Gia), and many cherished nieces and nephews. Sidney was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Coral Springs, Florida. He attended Coral Springs High School and went on to play football at the University of Florida, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics. Sidney began his career in the computer technology field until he began his valiant fight with brain cancer. After his recovery he discovered his joy of teaching when he substituted at Davie Elementary and Cooper City High School. The love of Sid’s life, Gina, was also a teacher and together they shared their love of nurturing children and touching their lives though education. They also spent time volunteering at Kids in Distress and opened their hearts and home as foster parents. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Fred Hunter Funeral Home in Davie on 3/6/10 at 5PM.
