ct as a Distinguished Lt. Governor. In 1995-1996 he served the South Florida District of Optimist International as a record-breaking Distinguished Governor and had an “EXCEL” year to remember. He served on numerous Optimist International Committees for the headquarters in St. Louis, MO. He also a member of the American Legion in Hollywood. During his life, his impact on the youth of the community was not only limited to the Hollywood area. He served on the HOFL and SFYFL Board of Directors as the treasurer of the largest youth football organization in South Florida. Russ’ life epitomized the Optimist Creed – too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. He was a guiding light, not only in his daughter Kathy and granddaughter Kaitlyn’s life but in the youth throughout South Florida.
