Henrietta (Henri) J. Finke, 90, died Monday, November 21, 2011. Henri was born April 3, 1921 to Anna and Arius J. Meyer of Bristow, IA. She was a graduate of Bristow High School, and attended Central College in Pella, IA, earning her teaching certificate. Henri taught school three years, then married Lawrence H. Finke on June 18, 1945. For the next forty years, Lawrence and Henri farmed near Bristow, retiring "to town" in Allison in 1985. Henri was a devoted member of her "singing church", St. John's EV Lutheran Church - Vilmar, where she taught adult and children's Sunday school and sang in the choir. Henri filled her days doing all the things she loved: family events, gardening, raising chickens, quilting, cross-stitch, playing the piano, travel, collecting music boxes, church history, Bristow High School alumni events and town history, and wrote a book about her farm/family life.
