Ralph F. Johansen, 89, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away November 24, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa.
Ralph was born to Jens and Dorthea (Hansen) Johansen on April 8, 1922, at the family home west of Latimer. He grew up in the Latimer area where he attended school and graduated from Latimer High School in 1940.
He was united in marriage to Dona Mae Pralle on October 2, 1949, in Latimer. The couple made their home on the family farm where Ralph raised livestock and farmed. In 1991, they moved to town. Ralph was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter, Iowa. He loved farming, being outside with nature, and vacationing in the mountains. He also loved watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Ralph is survived by Dona, his wife of 62 years, and three daughters: Janell (Steve) Moburg, Paynesville, MN; Sharon (Gene) Miller, Latimer; and Jean (James) Showalter, Hampton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Sara Ammerman, Angela Miller, Alicia (Nick) Skurdal, Jennifer Moburg, Anna Showalter, Sam Showalter, and Jacob Showalter, and two great-granddaughters: Lillie and Emma Ammerman.
