Walter J. Koch

Walter John Koch was born on April 24, 1948, at the Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, North Dakota to John and Marjorie (Gilbraith) Koch. He was baptized and later confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Windom. He received his education from the Windom Public Schools. On April 4, 1968, Walter enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in March 25, 1970. Walter was united in marriage to Wilma Hockett in July of 1967 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. This marriage was blessed with two children, Leah and P.J. The marriage was later dissolved. Walter managed the greenhouse in Worthington, Minnesota and drove tour bus for Wells Bus Service. Then he worked construction and was an over the road truck driver. In October of 2011, Walter moved into the Golden Living Center in Slayton and remained there until passing away on Saturday morning, December 10, 2011 at the age of 63. Walter will be remembered as being adventurous. He enjoyed Nascar races and was able to attend the Daytona 500. He enjoyed Clint Eastwood Westerns and listening to a wide variety of music.
