Virgil was born November 27, 1932 in Salem, Missouri to Bert and Sylvia Terrill Counts. He married Delores House and they were blessed with four boys: Marty, Tim, Rob, and Steve. Virgil was a man of many talents. Virgil had retired from EFCO in Des Moines in 1993; and among other things had worked as a welder, logger, and saw mill operator. He enjoyed chainsaw carving, working with wood, playing his guitar, hunting mushrooms, he liked to stay busy helping friends and neighbors, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren.
Virgil was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving from 1953 to 1955.
Virgil passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Knoxville Veterans Hospital after suffering a stroke. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Sylvia; his wife Delores; a son Steve; and siblings: Thurman Counts, Earl Counts, Dolly Land, Mildred Stringer, Betty Thomas, and Tip Counts.
Virgil is survived by his sons: Marty (Nikki) Counts of Knoxville, Tim (Tami) Counts of Melcher-Dallas, and Rob Counts of Knoxville; grandchildren: Chris (Crystal), Bethany, Coleton, and Brandon; a sister Mae Craven; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends.
