Services for Esther Rose Colbert, 97, will be Friday, July 3, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Thursday at the Church with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Memorials may be directed to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Hospice of Central Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com . Esther was born to Joe and Teresa (McLaughlin) Ohnemus on October 25, 1911 in Bauer and attended Bauer School. She was married to Martin Colbert on April 23, 1935. They were blessed with two daughters: Ellen and Lila. Esther enjoyed the hard work of farm life. She liked working outside and on the farm. She also enjoyed driving her car and also as a young lady drove a team delivering milk. Her greatest love was her family especially her grandchildren. Sunday dinners were a tradition bringing her siblings and their families together.
