Beatrice Marie Knight, Moyers, Dorr, age 94, died September 23, 2009. Services was held in Lovilia, Iowa, at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, at the Lovilia United Methodist Church. Visitation was Friday, September 25, 2009, opening to the public at 4 PM and the family was present from 6-8 PM at the Sinnott-Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lovilia. Beatrice will be laid to rest in Albia, Iowa, in Oakview Cemetery, next to her first husband, Harold - the father of her children. Memorials may be directed to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, or to the Cancer Society. Beatrice was born to Frank and Maggie Barnes on September 23, 1915, in Lovilia, Iowa and was the oldest of four. In 1934, she married Harold Knight, who went on to become an Evangelical minister. Beatrice and Harold established churches in Waterloo, Iowa; Des Moines, Iowa; and Davenport, Iowa. She led the choir and taught piano lessons. She helped make the churches a success. After Harold died in 1955, Beatrice went on to become one of the first female Supervisors in the computer department (the forerunner of computers) of Alcoa. ement years, traveling together. Earl died in 1981. Beatrice was a member of Faith United Methodist Church (the new name for the church she helped establish, in Davenport). She enjoyed crypto quotes, reading, and watching Animal Planet. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play and giving treats to her daughter's dog, when they visited. She was preceded in death by her father in 1988, her grandson Aaron Veit in 1990, her mother in 1995, her brother Bill Barnes in 2002, and her eldest son Bernie in 2009. She is survived by daughter-in-law Mary Jo Knight, her son Richard and his wife Darlene Knight, her daughter Linda and her husband Ed Veit. Her surviving grandchildren are Pam and her husband Joey Zeh, David and his wife Nora Knight, Cary and his wife Lindsey Veit, and Zak and his wife Candy Knight. Also, by her great grandchildren: Sammi, Jessica and Joseph Zeh, Jack Knight, Crystal Knight and Luke Aaron Veit. She's also survived by two sisters - Frances Waters, and Renie and her husband Max Bowman. Her pain and suffering are done. God has called her to come home. Many are waiting to welcome her.
