James Leo Crall, age 74, of rural Albia, died December 26, 2009 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia, following surgery in Iowa City. Jim was born in rural Georgetown in the same house in which he currently lived to Pat and Agnes (Stone) Crall. He graduated from St. Patrick's Georgetown High School, class of 1953. He enlisted and served in the Army from 1956-1958 and was stationed out of Fort Sill, OK. On October 4, 1958 he married Mary Catherine Scala at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. They were blessed with three children, Mark, Greg, and Lisa. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad, and then with Della Vedova Consturction, followed by Maloney Manufacturing (later Chamberlain Mfg.) for over twenty years. Jim farmed all his life and resided on the Century Farm homesteaded by the Cummins-Crall family in the mid 1800's. Family and farming were his major interest and passions in life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus and was a Fourth Degree Knight. yson, Melissa, Eric, Patrice, Gregory, and Staci Crall, as well as a great grandson, Blake; two brothers, Pat (Marianne) Crall and Ed (Kathleen) Crall, both of Albia, and a sister, Mary Agnes (Bill) Wynn of Albia, sister-in-law, Virginia (Denis) Della Vedova of Albia. Two aunts, Elizabeth Lahart of Albia, and Helen O'Brien of Ottumwa, thirteen nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Agnes, a daughter, Lisa, and a God child, Mary Ann Crall.
