ginia introduced the Albia community to Dial-a-Devotion, a daily scripture lesson and prayer request phone service. He played the tuba in the High School Band and was an enthusiastic member of the Albia City Band for most of his adult life. He was a long-time member of the Monroe County Hospital Board, a member of the American Legion, and President of the Albia Rotary Club. He also led fund-raising campaigns for charitable organizations, including the American Cancer Society. Bob enjoyed playing golf, bowling, basketball, baseball, tennis and other sports. He was Albia City Golf Champion in 1949. Bob is survived by a son, Andy (Sandi) Smith of Bryan, TX; daughters, Julie Watson of Williamsburg, VA, and Christine (Marco) Aguilar of Tucson, AZ, nine grandchildren: David, Matt, and Doug Smith, Angela Johnson, Holly Anderson, Paige Montoya, Preston Aguilar, Krisant Aguilar, and Analiese' Vasquez, and fifteen great grandchildren; brother, Max L. Smith of Washington, IA and a sister Mary McInnes of Cambridge, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and his parents. Visitation will be on Friday, September 24, 2010, at Sinnott-Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia, opening to the public at 12:00 p.m. and the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia with Rev Neil Montz officiating. Burial will be in the Oakview Cemetary. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Howard Cessna Post 136 of Albia. A memorial in Bob's and Virginia's names is established at Trinity United Methodist Church.
