BARBARA J. BUSTER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Barbara Jean Buster, 79, of Muscatine, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Dan Schoepf will officiate. Honorary bearers will be her three grandchildren, Stephen Whelan, Michael Whelan and Amy Whelan. Casket bearers will be George Buster, Tinh Vo, Duane Richardson, Earl Rohde, Wayne Gardner, and Woodrow Meyer. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Spring Valley Bible Camp or Calvary Baptist Church. Barbara was born on September 27, 1932, in Merrick, Oklahoma, the daughter of Fred and Pearl Carter Osborn. She married Larry S. Buster on October 22, 1950, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Muscatine. She graduated from Muscatine High School, class of 1950. She was office manager of Muscatine Tax Service for many years, retiring in 2005. ing Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, Missionary Board, and Grace Notes. She was active in the Girl Scouts and was a volunteer at the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. She helped her husband, in the garden and was known as the "weed puller". Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Larry Buster of Muscatine; three daughters, Pamela J. Buster of Muscatine, Datha Ann Watts of Houston, Texas, and Shari Whelan of Canyon Country, California; three grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, and Amy Whelan of Valencia, California; and one brother, Charles A. Morse of Waukee, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Clarence Koeppen; and two sisters, Lucille Sanders and Opal Walker.
