SHIRLEY STEELE MUSCATINE, Iowa - Shirley Steele, 76, of Muscatine, died on Monday, January 2, 2012, at her home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the Musserville United Methodist Church, 1001 Oregon Street. Gertie Nickols will officiate the service. An honorary bearer will be Charlie Ridinger. Casket bearers will be Ron Beeding, Tom Beeding, Paul Knapp, Billy Knapp, Aric Olson, and Dick Hoover. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery, Grandview. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Musserville United Methodist Church following the committal service. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the church. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Shirley was born on June 9, 1935, in Aledo, Illinois, the daughter of Maurice and Marie Adams Beeding. Her first marriage was to Maynard William Krueger and he preceded her in death in 1979. She married Phil Steele on June 28, 1985, in Muscatine. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Phil Steele of Muscatine; one son, Keith Krueger and wife, Faith, of Illinois City, Illinois; two daughters, Connie Strong of Muscatine, and Pam Knapp and husband, Paul, of Muscatine; Phil's children, Phillip Steele II of Chicago, Donna Eichelberger and husband, Donald, of Muscatine, and Sheila Lawrence and husband, Steve, of Muscatine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Tex Beeding and wife, Mary, of Muscatine; and one sister, Clara Wheeler of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; three daughters, Beverly Krueger, Sherry Hoover, and Linda Krueger; two sons, Wayne Krueger and Doug Krueger; and two brothers, Burr Beeding and Sam Beeding.
