BURNS, Deborah Hary, August 1, 1943-January 3, 2012, died surrounded by family and friends, following a brief illness. Debby was raised on the Maine coast and attended Oak Grove School, Wheaton College, and the Katharine Gibbs School in New York City. She was an administrative assistant with the Diners Club in NYC before relocating to Fort Lauderdale in 1970 and beginning what would be a successful 40 year real estate career. The company of family, friends, love of animals, books, and bridge were lifelong sources of pleasure. Debby will be remembered for her quick wit and fierce loyalty to her friends. Debby was predeceased by her parents, Emilio E. and Flora Colson Hary. She is survived by her sisters Evelyn Hodgkins and Rebecca (Jamie) Gardner, nieces Debbie Van Kuyk (Paul) and Jo Geddis (David), great nephews Joe and Steven Van Kuyk and Thomas and David Geddis. A Gathering of Friends will be held at Fred Hunter's Downtown Ft. Lauderdale Chapel on Saturday, January 7, from 2 to 4 pm.
