Lloyd H. Schmeling, 85, Green Bay, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born September 11, 1926 to the late Herman and Anna (Lawrenz) Schmeling in Algoma. He served in the United States Army during WWII. On June 20, 1959 he married the former Marion Ebert. Lloyd had been employed at Northern Paper (Georgia Pacific) for over 30 years. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was a boy scout leader for 8 years and remained active in scouting for many years after. Lloyd was also a member of the American Legion Sullivan-Wallen Post II. Surviving are his wife of 53 years: Marion; one son: Kevin (Missy) Schmeling; one daughter: Janelle (Jason) Walton; four grandchildren: Kendra and Taylor Schmeling and Mallory and Montana Walton; one sister: Anna Mae (Clarence) Alexander; two sisters-in-law: Grace Ebert and Elaine Ebert along with nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 S. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church until the funeral service at 11 am with the Reverend Paul Pett officiating. Full military honors to follow. Burial will be at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lloyd's name. The family would like to thank Bornemann Nursing Home, Bellin Hospital Intensive Care and Unity Hospice for all their care and support given.
