Naoma Barbara Broff, 94, died on July 21, 2006, at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa. Barbara was born July 31, 1911, to Eugenia L. Shultz and G. N. Savage in Pike City, Arkansas. She married Paul G. Arvidson of Shenandoah, Iowa in 1931, and moved to Mitchellville, Iowa, in 1936 where Paul worked at the WHO transmitter for eight years. They then moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, where Paul was chief engineer at WOC, Davenport, for 25 years. They retired to Shenandoah in 1969. Paul died in 1970. Barbara returned to her home town in Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1971. She married Harold Broff in 1973, and returned to Shenandoah. Harold and Paul graduated in the same class of high school in Shenandoah in 1921. Harold died from a stroke in 1980. Barbara enjoyed spending time with friends and family, attending doll festivals, collecting and restoring dolls, and working on various art projects including airbrush painting and ceramics. Survivors include one son, Paul William Arvidson and his wife Jacqueline of Princeton, IA; granddaughter, Ericka Arvidson Raber, her husband Edward and their children, Meredith and Henry of Washington, IA; and several nieces and nephews and other relation...[more]

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Chapel in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pastor Ron Nelson gave the words of comfort. Casket bearers were Ron Oestmann, John Walter, John Wolfe and Vaughn Livingston. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
