riage, she helped Ben on the farm for ten years. Once the children were raised she worked as a nurses aid at the Red Oak Hospital for four years before joining Godfather's Pizza in Shenandoah. She was proud of the fact she had worked her way up from entry level employee to manager. In 2002, after 17 years of service, she retired from Godfather's. Marilyn was a member of the Shenandoah First United Methodist Church in her younger years. She enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, reading books, playing cards and board games. Marilyn loved to cook big meals for her family. Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents and grandparents. Survivors include her husband, Ben Burroughs of Shenandoah, IA; four children: son, Russ Burroughs and his wife Debbie and their children Teresa and Cara, daughter, Vicki Major and her husband Tom and their children Brad and Jennifer, all of Shenandoah, IA, son, Chris Burroughs and his wife Caryn and their children Megan, Nathan, Danae, Celeste, Caden and Chelsie, all of Clarinda, IA, daughter, Ann Smith and her husband Dave and their daughter, Dannie, all of Villisca, IA; other relatives and many friends. Celebration of life memorial services were held on Thursday, March 29, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by Pastor Ron Nelson. Organist was Steve Richardson. The congregation sang "Amazing Grace". Bill Sons performed, "Holes In The Floor Of Heaven", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Wind Beneath My Wings". Caring for flowers were Teresa Burroughs and Jennifer Major. Attending the memory register were Riva Goodwill and Melissa Tharp. Private inurnment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah at a later date. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
