Roy Raymond Hawk was born on June 22, 1933 in Nishnabotna, Missouri; the son of Reuben and Bessie (Johnson) Hawk. Roy entered into eternal peace on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. Roy was born and raised in the Rock Port, Missouri area. He attended school in Nisa, Missouri and later attended in Corning Missouri. Following the 8th grade Roy began working for Kenny Lane as a farm hand. He continued this line of work until he retired and moved to Shenandoah. While living in Shenandoah Roy did some handyman work for Jim Nye and also did some maintenance work at the Shenandoah Golf Course. On June 18, 1988 he was united in marriage to Patricia Roberts. The couple built 7 years of memories together before Patti passed away on October 15, 1995. Roy was blessed with a second marriage to Joyce Cross on April 13, 1996. The couple shared 12 beautiful years together. Through his two marriages Roy gained 7 special step-children. This extended family also blessed his life with numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Roy loved to cook! eet potato pie. He also had a love for fishing, attending church and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Patti, sibling; Mildred Margaret "Dolly" Jackson, Elmer Hawk and Harold Hawk, and half brother Richard Hawk. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Joyce of Farragut, sister; Rosalie Clark and husband Frank of Hamburg and Norma Hulett and husband Gary of Rock Port, brother Lawrence Hawk and wife Judy of Thurman, step-children; J.D. Roberts, Tony Roberts, Michael Roberts, David Roberts, Donna Roberts, Gayle Bradley and Allen Mattice; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside Services were held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa with words of comfort offered by Rev. Val Black. Serving as casket bearers were Jim Eagan, Tony Roberts, David Roberts, Mike Roberts, Mike Clark and Frank Clark, Jr. A luncheon followed at the Christian Fellowship Church in Shenandoah.
