Funeral services for Esther A. Nicks, age 80 of Clarinda, will be held at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Iowa on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Karen Bash officiating. Burial will take place at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials to the donors choice. Miss Nicks passed away at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Saturday evening, March 21, 2009. Esther A. Nicks was born at Shenandoah, Iowa on January 15, 1929, she attended school in Shenandoah graduating with the Shenandoah High School Class of 1948. After graduation she attended school in Chicago, Illinois to become a Medical Technician. After her graduation she worked in Des Moines, Iowa for a number of years. She later returned to Shenandoah and became a LPN and worked at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa. Esther moved to Clarinda and became a LPN at the State Hospital, where she worked for over 24 years before retiring. Survivors include her two sisters; Norma Mattes of Clarinda, Iowa and Lola Owens and husband Burvon of West Plains, Missouri; three aunts, Esther Clark of Auburn, Nebraska, Maxine Keith of Kansas City, Kansas, and Agnes Keith of Arlington, Texas along with many niece, nephews and many friends.
