Phyllis Genevive (Shaffer) Brownfield was born on July 22, 1924 in Blanchard, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Alice (Parsons) Shaffer. Phyllis entered into eternal peace on Tuesday evening, November 2, 2010 at the Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Phyllis' early years were spent in the Blanchard area. She attended school in Blanchard through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Everett Ray Brownfield on November 25, 1943 in Oregon, Missouri. The couple resided in Burlington, Missouri for a number of years and then returned to Blanchard to make their home. The couple was blessed with 63 years of marriage before Everett's passing in 2006.
Phyllis was a dedicated wife and mother. She worked for Mount Arbor Nurseries and Sullivan Packaging. She was a member of the Blanchard United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the hobbies of sewing and knitting. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her much joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Sylvia Foster and Rachel Leek, a brother Raymond Shaffer, a daughter Iris Rightsell, and her beloved husband Everett.
