Lawrence "Larry" Buick

Lawrence "Larry" Dean Buick was born on September 12, 1946 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Harold Lloyd and Ruby (Spargur) Buick. Larry entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in Shenandoah, Iowa. Larry was raised in the Shenandoah community. It is here that he attended school and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1964. Upon graduated he enlisted in the United States Navy. Larry served his country with pride until he was honorably discharged in 1969. Larry was stationed in Hawaii and also served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. During his working years Larry worked for Imperial Chemical for three years following his naval career. In 1972 he began his lifelong career at Eatons Corporation and would later retire with the company in 2008. He was a hardworking and dedicated employee. Larry was united in marriage to Mary Winther of Villisca for 13 years. The couple later divorced. In 1987 he was united in marriage to Kathy Ruffcorn in Shenandoah, Iowa. Some of his other interests included hunting, drawing, visiting with the group at Normy's, making his daily rounds about town, taking Kathy her lunch at work, and checking his Powerball tickets to see if he had won his millions! Larry enjoyed life and tried to make the most out of each day. He was preceded in death of by father Harold Buick; mother Ruby Buick; three sisters Florence Stewart, Hattie McIntyre and Norma King. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Kathy Buick of Shenandoah; daughters Amy Zwickel and husband Zac of Shenandoah, Shannon Buick and husband Gary Taylor of Shenandoah and Taylor Buick also of Shenandoah; son Bryan Buick and wife Nicole of Essex; brother Harold "Sonny Buick and wife Hazel of Junction City, KS; grandchildren Zachary Taylor, Kimberly Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Sommer Taylor, Dylan Buick, Kayden Buick, Zayne Zwickel, Seth Zwickel, and Tyson Harris; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
