COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Alice H. Boehnke, 97, of Colorado Springs, CO, died Tuesday (April 14, 2009) at Penrose St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 20th at St. John's Lutheran Church east of Garner with Rev. Carl Hedberg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts may be made to Lutherans for Life, 1305 South G Avenue, Nevada, Iowa 50201-2774 Alice Helena Boehnke, the daughter of Albert and Clara (Bohn) Roenfanz, was born January 28, 1912 at Ventura. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church east of Garner. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1930. On September 5, 1937, Alice was united in marriage to Arnold Boehnke at St. John's Lutheran Church. During Arnold's years in the ministry they served parishes in Knoke, Ft. O, where Arnold retired from active ministry in 1976. Alice is survived by sons, Richard (Gayle) Boehnke of Perham, Minnesota and David (Lynn) Boehnke of Wellington, Colorado; a daughter, Lavonne (William) Lehmpuhl of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Arnold Boehnke, May 3, 2002; a daughter-in-law, Barbara; a sister, Mabel Boehnke; and brothers, Walter, Ewald and Edward Roenfanz.
