Burton Sharp, age 74, died at Valley Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday, September 25, 2005, following a long battle with cancer.He was born November 6, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Edward and Faye Sharp. The family, including brother Harold and sister Elaine, moved to Los Angeles in 1947 where Burt briefly attended Hollywood High School before entering into an apprenticeship at the Los Angeles Times Mirror as a photo engraver. He joined the Air Force in 1950 where he served as a still photographer and reconnaissance photo analyst. He was honorably discharged in 1954, having attained the rank of staff sergeant.Burt met his wife of 54 years, Rosemary Dougherty, in Los Angeles, and the couple was married in September, 1951 in South Pasadena. Burt was a great public speaker with an incredible ear for music and foreign languages. Moving quickly through the ranks of the advertising business, he soon became an expert in marketing. He left the advertising business and went on to travel to different parts of the world as a representative for Mattel, Max Factor, and later Monsanto, when in 1971, Burt moved the entire family to Mexico City. After ten years in Mexico, the family returned to Los Angeles where Burt started his own voice-over business, ADR Voice Services, serving the motion picture and television industries until his death.In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Michele Sharp, Pamela Sharp, Karen Sharp Lancaster and her husband David Lancaster, David Sharp and his wife Marlene Moore Sharp, Daniel Sharp, and Stacie Sharp Bull and her husband Thomas Bull. He is also survived by his brother Harold and sister Elaine, his four grandsons Aaron, Nick, Spencer & Jack and a large extended family.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in memory of Burt.
