Adrea Zucker Carter, 95, who lived in Los Angeles since 1912, had, with her husband Victor, been life-long community volunteer with a well deserved reputation as a community, national and international humanitarian. Mrs. Carter has served as President of the Los Angeles County Music Commission, the Women's Division of the United Jewish Fund, and Aviv Home (formerly Hamburger Home for Girls), as well had held a board position on the Jewish Federation Council. Victor passed away in March of 2004 after a devoted 75 years of marriage. She and her husband had been close to virtually every Prime Minister of Israel and were particularly proud of their work at the personal behest of Golda Meir to establish Tel Aviv University. In addition she and her husband made yearlong efforts traveling the globe to recruit Jewish business leaders for the Israel Economic Conference in the 1960Â's, a successful undertaking designed to bolster the economy of Israel.An enthusiastic patron of the arts, she and her husband recently endowed the Adrea & Victor Carter Symphony Orchestra at Tel Aviv University.
