MARY SMITH SIGEARS MUSCATINE, Iowa - Mary E. Smith Sigears, 94, of Muscatine, died on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Dr. Bruce Ursin of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, at the funeral home. Mary was born on January 25, 1918, in Sterling, Ill., the daughter of Edwin B. and Mary A Andreas Zimmerman. Her first marriage was to Lester R. Smith on Dec. 10, 1937. He preceded her in death. She later married Ralph Sigears on Oct. 30, 1973, and he preceded her in death also. She had worked at Spiegel's for five years. She was a 50 year member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved music and flowers. Survivors include one son, Neal L. Smith of Twin Lakes, Wis.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Chester Zimmerman of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry Smith; two sisters; and two brothers. [more]
