Joyce Joan Kirkbride, 66, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away on February 21, 2012, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. She was born on October 30, 1945 in Hampton, the daughter of Carl and Fern (Banner) Kirkbride. At age 4, Joyce was diagnosed with Polio. She would jokingly call herself an "elementary school drop out" because she could not attend school with the other students past the 5th grade due to her Polio. Joyce received her education via telephone between the school and her home and graduated from Hampton High School in 1963. She then attended the University of Missouri and studied accounting. Joyce was very dedicated to the time she spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed taking care of people. She also enjoyed needle point, crocheting, other crafts, and cooking for her visitors. Joyce was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, three uncles, Alvie, Alfred Ray, and Ira Frances Kirkbride, and her best friend, Sheila Witte.
