Kenneth J. Hayes of Antigo, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was 73 years old. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Antigo a son of the late George and Rose (Laehn) Hayes. He married Dana Summ on July 2, 1966 in Antigo. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2006. He graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1958. Mr. Hayes served in the United States Navy from July 2, 1957 until June 28, 1961 as a third class petty officer -E4. After the service he drove truck hauling logs on the east coast. In 1964 he returned to Antigo and after marriage move to Lannon and worked for Pitney Bowers in Milwaukee. He then moved to Sun Prairie and taught at Diesel Truck Driving School in Madison for three years. In 1973 he returned to Antigo and drove truck for Schultz Creamery and then Gene Miller. Mr. Hayes attended North Central Technical College and graduated with a degree in Electronics in 1983. A year after graduation he moved to Arizona and worked for Arizona Exterminating as a service manager and then as general manager. In 2001 he retired and moved to Merrill and then to Antigo in 2005. g in November of 2011, where he enjoyed delivering mail and being active in the community. Mr. Hayes was a member of Faith Untied Church of Christ, Antigo and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge #662, Antigo. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo on a weekly basis and playing his guitar. He is survived by a son, Michael Hayes, Port Washington; a granddaughter, Laiken Hayes, Phoenix, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Hayes, Merrill. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and William Hayes. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Jedras officiating. Antigo veterans will conduct military rites at the funeral home following the service. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Thank you to the staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King for the wonderful care they provided for Mr. Hayes.
