George R. Rusch, 88, Ashwaubenon, died Saturday morning surrounded by his loved ones, March 3, 2012, at his home. He was born on Feb. 6, 1924 in Oconto Falls to the late Emil and Bertha (Koske) Rusch. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1942. He served as a cook in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1943 to 1946, during which time he spent 13 months in England. On Nov. 23, 1946, he married the former Margaret Leistner. George was employed by Hoberg Paper Mill (later Proctor & Gamble) for 40 years, from 1946 until retiring on April 25, 1986. George enjoyed camping with his family, gardening and reading his daily newspaper. He loved western music ... especially Johnny Cash. Laverne Bokunevitz; one brother-in-law: Dick Umentum; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his dog, Muffy. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers: Gene and Norman; one sister: Doloris Umentum; half brother: Ralph Rusch; step brother, Harry Bokunevitz; one son-in-law, Robert Arendt; two grandchildren; and his dog, Misty. Visitation will take place after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S. Madison St., where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating. Entombment will take place in Fort Howard Mausoleum. A special thanks to Heartland Hospice, and also to Comfort Keepers, especially to Tom. A Memorial fund has been established in George's name.
