Susie Belle Lenz , 92, of New London, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Lenz was born September 17, 1919 in Abingdon, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick Clyde and Maude Ellen Hupp Baker. On October 28, 1938, she married Carl Lenz in Fairfield. She attended Abingdon Schools and graduated from Farson High School. Mrs. Lenz was a good cook and worked for the Fisher Nursing Home, Danville Care Center, the Henry County Home, and the New London Care Center. She was a member of the New London United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and in her later years enjoyed sitting on her front porch swing and watching the children walk to and from school. She is survived by three sons, Dick (Molly) Lenz of New London, Ron Lenz and Greg Lenz, both of Mt. Pleasant; twin daughters, Marilyn (John) Scott of Mt. Pleasant and Marlene Lenz of New London; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Winifred Prottsman of New London. will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 26 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Jim Roth will officiate. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London. Visitation will begin after noon on Sunday, March 25 at the Chapel with family greeting friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the New London Rescue Unit.
