Tom McBroom

Tom McBroom, one of fifteen children of Ben and Elizabeth (Willard) McBroom, was born near Sentinel, OK on July 31, 1915. Tom attended country school near Port, OK. Tom became a farm laborer and later joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was sent to word at Mariposa, AZ. Tom returned to the Sentinel area to pursue a farming and trucking career. Prior to WWII, Tom's love of horses led him to enlist in the Unites States Calvary. Following America's entrance into the war, Tom re-enlisted into the U. S. Army. Tom and Ida Endorf were married on December 15, 1944 at Bartlesville, OK. Their marriage was blessed with three children Tom, Joyce, and Judy. Following WWII, Tom took advantage of the G. I. Education Bill and enrolled in auto mechanics school. This career led him to Glenwood, Iowa where he was first employed by Herb Klockner Motor Company. Tom later worked for Schoening, Buffington, and Hiatt auto dealerships in Glenwood before going to work for McKenzie Pontiac in Omaha, NE. na to live near their son and his family. Tom's enjoyments included horses and spectator sports. Tom and Ida had been married for 57 years when Tom died on July 16, 2002. He had attained the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 15 days. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin siblings, sisters, Molly McBroom, Minnie Howton, Nettie MaHaffey, Laura Stewart, and Quixie White; brothers Dave McBroom, Charles McBroom, Ben McBroom, and Alex McBroom Henry "Buck" McBroom, Isaac "Bee" McBroom, and France McBroom Tom is survived by his wife Ida of Terre Haute; children Tom McBroom, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Terre Haute, Joyce McKelvey and her husband James of Colorado Springs, CO, and Judy Dashner and her husband Charles of Glenwood, IA; six grandsons and three great grandchildren.
