Kenneth Edmund Michaud, one of eight children of George W. and Hattie E. (Michaud) Michaud, was born in Presque Isle, Maine on June 20, 1912. He attended school in Presque Isle. On May 28, 1934, Ken and Dorothy Louise Boulier were married at the Baptist Church in Presque Isle. The marriage was blessed with their three children, Karen, Doreen, and Kenneth, Jr. In 1939, Ken began working for the Fred P. Stevens Clothing Store in Presque Isle where he became a manager and a buyer for 37 years. Ken then worked for the Kinney Clothing Company for an additional five years. Ken and Dorothy were members of the Baptist Church in Presque Isle. Ken held an office with the Kiwanis Club where he was a member for 18 years and also served as the director of the Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Retail Merchants Commission and served for one year on the Maine State Merchants Group. Ken's enjoyments included reading, hunting, and fly fishing. he and Dorothy enjoyed return visits to Maine to be with their family. They had been married 56 years at the time of Dorothy's death on February 5, 1991. Ken continued to live in Glenwood and in July of 2000, due to failing health, Ken moved to the Tabor Care Center in Tabor, Iowa. Ken died at the Care Center on March 8, 2003 having attained the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 18 days. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Doreen and wife Dorothy, brothers Raymond Michaud and Walter Michaud, and sisters Olive and Pauline. Ken is survived by his daughter Karen Ahern and her husband Jim of Malvern, Iowa; son Kenneth E. Michaud, Jr. and his wife Chris of Kimberling City, Missouri; grandchildren Stefanie Shaw and her husband John of Tabor, Iowa, Jim Ahern and his wife Vicki of Kearney, Nebraska, Michele Ahern of Kansas City, Missouri, and Michael, Hattie, and Kenny Michaud of Kimberling City, Missouri; brother Maxwell Michaud and his wife Lucy of Bristol, Connecticut; sisters Lucille Moran of Readfield, Maine and Florence Oaks of Bristol, Connecticut; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
