Robert Miller Deitchler, one of seven children of Joseph Albert Deitchler and Helen Minnie (Miller) Deitchler was born on December 28, 1931 in Mineola, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Mineola. Bobby farmed until he entered the United States Airforce on December 27, 1950 and served as an airman in Korea. He received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and was selected as Airman of the Month three times. Following the service, Bobby returned to the Silver City area and farmed. On November 23, 1957, Bobby and Barbara Ellen (Briggs) of Treynor, Iowa were united in marriage. They made their home in rural Silver City, Iowa and were blessed with three children, David, John, and Jim. Bobby was a member of the Silver City American Legion Post 439, the Veteran's of Foreign War, and St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, his morning coffee with his friends, the farm, and restoring old tractors. Bobby was preceded in death by an infant sister, his parents, sister Mary Jane Monahan, brother Joseph "Darl" Deitchler, granddaughter Morgan Elizabeth Deitchler; and brothers-in-law Donald Techau, Robert Thomas, and Loran Johnson. Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Deitchler of Silver City; sons David Deitchler of Lincoln, NE, and John Deitchler and wife Renae of Treynor IA, and their four children Mitchell, Matthew, Michael, and Madelyn, and Jim Deitchler and his wife Lori of Omaha, NE, sisters Maxine Techau of Mineola, and Roberta Thomas of Englewood, CO and Lavora Johnson of Denver, CO; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
