Elvira Marie Husz, one of five children of William Fredrick Braack and Agnes (Rosacker) Braack, was born at Living Springs near Treynor, Iowa on April 15, 1907. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor on May 19, 1907 and confirmed in September of 1922. She attended the Living Springs School and helped her parents on their farm. Elvira and Rudolph Nicholas Husz were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church on February 3, 1926. Elvira was especially pleased with the fact that she was baptized, confirmed, and married by the same minister, Pastor Huff. Elvira and Rudolph farmed near Treynor and were blessed with three sons, Rudolph William, Charles, and Curtiss. Elvira enjoyed life on the farm, caring for the chickens, milking the cows, and selling the eggs. She loved baking and was known for her pies, bread, and cookies. Elvira was active in her beloved St. Paul Lutheran Church where in 1930, she became a charter member and was the first secretary of the Mary Martha Circle. ra and Rudolph had been married 49 years when Rudolph died on January 26, 1975. Elvira continued to live on their farm and kept active in the community and her church. After fracturing her pelvis during a fall in September of 2001, Elvira moved into the home of her son Charles and his wife Carleane. Surrounded by her family, Elvira died at their home on January 1, 2005 at the age of 97 years, 8 months, and 16 days. Elvira was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Rudolph William Husz; sisters Annie Schnepel and Hilda Braack; brothers William Braack and Harry Braack; granddaughter Debora Reed-Swingle and granddaughter-in-law Paula Jill Husz. Elvira is survived by her sons Charles Husz and his wife Carleane and Curtiss Husz and his wife Sharon all of Carson; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
