Georgia Gertrude Walker-Benton, daughter of Sadie May (Shane) and Floyd Dodd Hullinger, was born in Silver City, Iowa on July 27, 1914. Her family moved to Glenwood, Iowa when Georgia was seven years old. Georgia attended school in Glenwood until the 10th grade and then worked as a clerk at Robinsons Clothing Store in Glenwood. Georgia and Lou Walker were married in Papillion, Nebraska in 1935. They made their home in Glenwood and Georgia continued to work at Robinson's. Georgia and Lou had been married 22 years when Lou died in 1954. Following Lou's death, Georgia decided to visit a close friend in California and later decided to move there. Georgia and Amos Benton were married in Nevada. They made their home in California and loved to travel. Georgia was a member of the Empire Valley Mobilettes Shriners, the Daughters of the Nile, and the Order of Eastern Star. She loved to celebrate Christmas and entertain family and friends. Following Amos's death in 2003, Georgia decided to return to Iowa. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Glenwood, and was loved by everyone she met. ed like her children. Georgia died at the Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs on February 9, 2005 at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 26 days. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie and Floyd; stepfather Earl McClary; first husband Lou Walker and second husband Amos Benton; brothers Floyd Hullinger and Gene McClary; sister Cleo and infant sisters Junie and Geneiva. Georgia is survived by her sisters Mary Brierly of Des Moines, IA and Margaret Reed of Glenwood; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
