Charlotte E. Decker

Charlotte Elaine Decker, one of four children of Charles Earl Decker and Vera Zora (Little) Decker, was born at Little Sioux, Iowa on January 29, 1943. While Charlotte was still a child, the family moved to Silver City, Iowa. Tragedy soon struck the young family when their father, Charles Decker was killed in action during World War II in Germany. Vera worked hard to provide and maintain a happy home for Charlotte and her brothers and sister. The children were all baptized at the Silver City United Methodist Church. Charlotte was a member of the last high school class to graduate from Silver City High School in 1961. Charlotte moved to Des Moines, Iowa and attended Business College. She returned to live in Silver City and worked as a nursing aid at Lake View Nursing Home in Glenwood, Iowa. Continuing to live in Silver City and working part time at Lake View, Charlotte enrolled in nursing school at Iowa Western Community College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. h permitted, Charlotte enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and wood crafts. Charlotte was diagnosed with cancer in September 2005 and died at her home in Silver City on January 13, 2006. She had attained the age of 62 years, 11 months, and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents. Charlotte is survived by her brothers Delmar Decker and his wife Bonnie of Silver City and Randy Mills and his wife Sharon of De Soto, Iowa; sister Gayle Spetman and her husband Dale of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins; and many friends.
