Dwain Eugene Kindig

Dwain Eugene Kindig, son of Russell Page Kindig and Myrtle Vivian (Fleming) Kindig, was born at rural Henderson, Iowa on October 24, 1922. Dwain grew up in Hastings, Iowa and attended rural school. He worked for many of the area farmers and for Waller Transfer. Dwain was known to be a hard worker and always reliable. He enjoyed being around people, and when able, enjoyed attending the Fleming Family Reunion. Dwain's other enjoyments included watching car races and the construction of new homes and businesses. Following the death of his mother in 1978, Dwain and his father moved to the Nishna Cottage in Malvern, Iowa. His father later died in 1981. Dwain continued to live at the Cottage and work as his health permitted. In 1990, he moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa to live with his cousin, Bonnie Raymond. Dwain enjoyed making daily trips to Osco Drug where he purchased peppermint candy to give to people he met during the day. He would also work for the neighborhood families raking leaves, mowing lawns, and scooping snow. ome in Glenwood, Iowa. Dwain died at the Home on February 5, 2006 at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 11 days. Dwain was preceded in death by his parents and a niece. He is survived by his sister, Velma Cooper of Greenville, PA; nieces and nephews; and many cousins. Dwain will be missed by his family and friends.
