Ronald Loren Heiman, one of 11 children of Henry Harrison Heiman and Nellie Leona (King) Heiman, was born in Oakland, Iowa on September 16, 1936. He attended school in Oakland and Silver City, Iowa until the eighth grade and then began driving the delivery truck for Storz Auto Parts in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ron's extensive knowledge of parts soon moved him from the delivery route to the counter where he worked as a parts man. While in Council Bluffs, Ron served in the National Guard and then enlisted in the US Army, serving with the 25th Division in Germany and Chu Chi, Vietnam. Following the service, Ron returned to Iowa where he lived with his parents on a farm east of Glenwood and began working at the Schusters Auto Parts Store in Glenwood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing his guitar, country music, and loved cars. As Ron began to experience health problems, it was discovered that he had been exposed to Agent Orange while in the service. to live in Clarksdale to help raise his nephews. In 1993, Ron and Eva Myrtle (Sowards) Davis were married in Texas. They made their home in Clarksdale and enjoyed traveling across the country. They had been married 14 years when Ron died at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 3, 2007 at the age of 70 years, 11 months, and 17 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Wayne Heiman, Carl Heiman, Gerald Heiman, and Harold Heiman; sisters Dorothy Hahn, Janice Riffel, Fern Richardson, Norma Schoening; and step-son Mark Davis. Ron is survived by his wife Eva Heiman of Clarksdale, MO; brother Al Heiman and his wife Belinda of Farragut, IA; sister Carolyn Smith of Thurman, IA; daughter-in-law Lillian Simenson and her husband John of Wilmington, IL; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Open visitation will be held at Hertz Funeral Home in Glenwood prior to the graveside services. Memorials suggested to the National Vietnam Veteran Memorial Fund
