ectronic counter measures and later at Stillwater, Oklahoma. He returned to Chicago where he taught until he was discharged as an ETM 2nd Class on April 15, 1946. Following the service, Jared and Lois returned to the family farm where Jared farmed throughout his life. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Susan Kay and Roger Alan. Jared had a strong work ethic. He loved to work on the farm and believed in protecting the soil and land. As a child, Jared was always intrigued with radio, and the ability to build radio equipment that would work to talk to anyone around the world who had amateur equipment. He built transceivers, power supplies, antenna tuners, amplifiers, and many other useful amateur radio equipment to experiment with various conditions. This was his lifetime hobby. Jared passed away on April 21, 2009, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He had attained the age of 84 years, four months, and four days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Woodfill and his wife Bernice; and sister, Viola Hathaway and her husband Joe. Jared is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Woodfill of Malvern, Iowa; children, Roger Woodfill of Hastings, Iowa, and Susan Wettling and husband Fred of Knoxville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Genung and wife Jennifer and their daughter Friday of Austin, Texas, Samuel Wettling and wife Diana, also of Austin, and Sara Parry and husband Ben and their twin sons, Ezra and Adlai of Germany; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
