Richard L. Peck MONTPELIER, Iowa --Richard Lee Peck, 76, of Montpelier, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, Illinois. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the St. Mathias Catholic Church, Muscatine. The Rev. Jason Crossen will officiate services. Burial will take place in Montpelier Cemetery with military rites by V.F.W. Post 1565. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Gannon Hall. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Richard's name. Richard was born on July 10, 1935, in Hopkinton, the son of Forrest and Mabel Appleby Peck. On March 23, 1957, Richard was united in marriage to Julia Canaan. She preceded him in death. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Franks Foundry where he later retired after being employed for 27 years as a crane operator with the company. ore than 30 years. He enjoyed watching all sports, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, mowing the lawn, working on tractors and having coffee with friends and family at Clark's Landing. Richard will be deeply missed by his son, Michael L. Peck and wife, Karol, of Muscatine; three daughters, Karen M. Guenther and husband, Gavin, of Columbus Junction, Sharon S. Proffitt and husband, Douglas, of Rock Island, Illinois, and Michelle T. Jarrett and husband, Jeffery, of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patty Heller of Monticello. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four sisters, Frances, Roberta, Ruby and Irene; and two brothers, Robert and Wilbur.
